Acute Care Position:

We have an exciting opportunity within the NYULMC Department of Otolaryngology, Hearing and Speech Department at Bellevue Hospital Center for a clinical swallowing specialist. The department seeks a New York State and ASHA certified Speech Language Pathologist with experience, for a full time maternity leave position. The individual must possess a broad skill set in acute care speech-language pathology as well as outpatient service provision. Skill set must include competence and independence in clinical swallow evaluations as well as in both types of instrumentation: MBS and FEES. The position also requires experience in Passy Muir Speaking/Swallowing Valves and knowledge of trach and ventilator dependence. A strong background is required in evaluating and treating patients with head and neck cancers and resultant communication and swallowing impairments that result from treatment modalities. Competence in evaluating and treating patients with total laryngectomies is needed, including pre-surgical counseling, training with alaryngeal communication methods including assessment, fitting and trouble-shooting tracheoesophageal voice prostheses.
