Clinical Fellowship Opportunity Miami VA Medical Center

The Miami VA Healthcare System, Audiology and Speech Pathology Service is announcing the availability of a full time (40 hours per week) Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) opportunity. This is a temporary appointment for one year without potential for permanent employment. Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. The starting date will be between July/August 2018. The appointment is for 12 months, 2080 hours. The compensation package includes base salary as well as medical and leave benefits. 

Recruitment will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted through April 14, 2018. Interested applicants should submit the following package:

  4. Three letters of reference.

We are a Level III Polytrauma Clinic Support Team, we provide Telehealth services to the home, our Speech Pathology section interacts closely with a variety of teams including Otolaryngology, Radiology, Nutrition, Geriatrics, Spinal Cord, to name a few. We are part of the CARF accredited acute rehab unit, and work closely with the surgical intensive care and medical intensive care units as well as our Community Living Center.  The Clinical Fellow will have the opportunity to gain experience with instrumental exams (fluoroscopy, FEES, videostroboscopy) as well as various special populations (Head & Neck Cancer, Transgender, alaryngeal speech/tracheoesophageal puncture, cognitive communication impairments, aphasia, dysarthria, ALS/alternative/augmentative communication systems).

We view the CFY as a year of advanced clinical learning.  Anyone interested in working and learning in a fast-paced speech language pathology program with a strong emphasis on evidence based practice who has strong academic credentials and internship experience in a medical setting should contact us.
