Position Summary: A full-time position, staff level position available in our Speech Language Pathology Department. Ideal candidates will have experience providing assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders for adult patients in the Acute Rehabilitation with floating coverage in acute care as needed based on patient census. Experience in acute rehabilitation setting and exposure to caring for patients with multiple comorbidities affecting commination and swallowing is a plus.
VFSS or FEES experience required, training in the other modality available.
Work schedule will include weekends and Holidays.
Position Responsibilities:
-Assess and treat patients with a variety of medical diagnoses, communication and swallowing impairments
-Collaboration and coordination of patient care with the medical team, other rehabilitation specialists and patient families
-Provide education regarding communication and swallowing disorders, specific and appropriate diagnostic tests and results and community resources available to patients upon discharge.
-Counsel caregivers in their adjustment to the patient’sswallowing and communication impairments as it relates to diagnosis and recovery.
Minimum Qualifications: A Master's Degree with a major in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years’ experience working in an academic medical center
