This position is for a full-time adult medical Speech Pathologist preferably with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in an acute care and outpatient setting. This position offers a unique opportunity to merge clinical and academic settings. Located at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital on Long Island, NY, the Speech Pathology service is an academic training ground for graduate students from Stony Brook University to learn in an acute care hospital setting. As the full-time staff provides inpatient and outpatient Speech Pathology services to a wide range of adult and pediatric patients, the SLPs, who all have an academic title, will also provide direct supervision and training to the 1st and 2nd year students who rotate each semester as part of their medical clinic requirements. The candidate should have competencies in instrumentation including videofluoroscopic evaluation and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing and a love for teaching the next generation best practice. A newly formed academic program with state-of-the-art instrumental assessments, this position is a perfect opportunity for candidates who want to grow and learn, work with highly experienced Speech Pathologists and board-certified colleagues who will support new and innovative ideas while providing opportunities for clinical research. Stony Brook Southampton is a designated stroke center and has a highly acclaimed Parkinson’s Disease and palliative care program.
