in Job Postings

The Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) is happy to announce the availability of a full-time, one year Clinical Fellowship in Speech-Language Pathology, to begin summer or early fall of 2019.

At PVAHCS, we serve inpatients, outpatients, and residents of the Community Living Center. We deliver services both in person and via telehealth. You will learn to evaluate and treat adults with cognitive-communication impairments, aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia, and dysphonia. You will also gain experience with fluoroscopic and endoscopic swallow evaluations, endoscopic voice evaluations, and post-laryngectomy voice restoration. Patients are seen along the continuum of care, including acute/intensive, outpatient, and long-term care. You can expect close interaction with a variety of specialty services, including Ear/Nose/Throat; Physical Medicine & Rehab; Nutrition, Hospitality & Food; and Prosthetics & Sensory Aids. We work with a large and very active OEF/OIF population, as well as patients with ALS and patients with transgender-related communication needs. PVAHCS Speech Pathologists hold various specialty certifications, including Board Certification in Neurologic Communication Disorders, Board Certification in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders, and certification in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment.

Phoenix is America's fifth largest city, with affordable housing and an extensive freeway system that connects all parts of the valley. Arizona has vast national forest lands that provide a variety of recreational activities, such as skiing, horseback riding, boating, hiking, and camping. The Phoenix metropolitan area has an abundance of golf courses, parks, public swimming pools, and bike paths.
