The Washington DC VA Medical Center is seeking candidates for a Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship positionfor 2020-2021
The clinical fellow will gain experience in evaluation and treatment of adults with traumatic brain injury, cognitive communication impairments, aphasia, dysarthria, dysphagia, and dysphonia. Â Clinical fellows will also receive training in performing modified barium swallow and FEES studies, assessing patients for use of assistive technology, transgender voice therapy, and providing pre- and post- laryngectomy education and voice restoration. Â The CF will manage his/her own caseload and see patients along the continuum of care from intensive care units, outpatient care, sub-acute rehab, long-term care, and hospice/palliative care. Â He or she will gain experience in conducting both individual and group therapy sessions. The clinical fellow will also interact with a variety of specialty services including neurology, rehab medicine, ENT,geriatrics, and primary care and have an opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
