About the event
The speaker will highlight challenges of performing instrumental swallow studies in the pediatric population. Additionally, the speakeer will discuss ways to optimize positioning, procedures and compliance to obtain thorough exams during both MBS and FEES.
Nicole Scafura, M.S., CCC-SLP, CNT is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Neonatal Therapist who has worked with the pediatric population for 7 years in a variety of settings including home care, subacute rehabilitation and acute care. Nicole currently works in a children's hospital and level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mount Sinai caring for medically complex pediatrics. She is trained in both Modified Barium Swallow studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow studies. Nicole has a passion for educating and mentoring others. Nicole regularly mentors graduate students for externship placements at her job and also serves as a mentor for ASHA online programs: S.T.E.P and C.T.M.P.
