The VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) is pleased to offer two (2) Clinical Fellow (CF) training positions in Speech-Language Pathology for 2026-2027. VANCHCS is a Level 1a (highest complexity) facility with an acute care hospital in Sacramento and a Community Living Center (CLC) in Martinez (Bay Area). Each location offers inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth Speech Pathology services. One position is available at each of the locations.


The VANCHCS Neurogenic Disorders Residency Program has been awarded Accreditation Candidacy status by the Board of Residency Education of the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences (ANCDS). By the end of the program, residents will be able to independently assess and treat patients with complex neurogenic communication disorders, providing comprehensive care within the scope of practice of speech-language pathology. Given the advanced knowledge required to treat and assess patients with neurogenic communication disorders, residents are encouraged to pursue ANCDS Board Certification when eligible. https://www.ancds.org/BRE-accreditation-standards

In addition to neurogenic communication disorders, residents will have opportunities to develop skills in clinical and instrumental swallowing evaluations (MBSS, FEES), tracheostoma and TEP placement/management, voice assessment/management, and aural rehabilitation.


GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • This is a 12-month full-time (40 hours/week, Mon-Fri) temporary position with a compensation package that includes a stipend of approximately $47,355 plus medical and leave benefits.

  • Graduation required from a fully accredited Speech-Language Pathology graduate program (M.A. or M.S.) .

  • Only US citizens are eligible to apply.
