Deadline for Applications: March 24th, 2026
The Speech-Language Pathology department at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center is proud to announce a one-year clinical fellowship opportunity. This is a full-time, competitive, funded position that offers a unique opportunity to engage with a full spectrum of comprehensive evaluative and therapeutic services for individuals with diverse diagnoses under direct mentorship. Typical speech-pathology related diagnoses seen at this facility include dysphagia, aphasia, cognitive-communication deficits, dysarthria, disfluency, apraxia, voice disorders, laryngectomy, and medically complex cases. Clinical fellows provide services in outpatient and inpatient settings, such as ICU, acute care, rehab, telehealth, in-office, and skilled nursing; and collaborate across the interdisciplinary team, which may include neurology, ENT, GI, radiology, medicine, oncology, psychiatry, nutrition, nursing, among others. There will be regular participation and administration of MBSS (modified barium swallow studies) and FEES (fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) as well as opportunities for involvement in videostroboscopy, AAC, group therapy, and participation in voice-restoration and management of laryngectomy patients.
