The Dayton VA Medical Center Speech-Language-Pathology section is pleased to announce one Clinical Fellowship opportunity for 2026-2027. The Clinical Fellow will have the opportunity to achieve their clinical learning goals across a wide continuum of care, under close mentorship. This position will serve veterans in acute care and critical care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinic, and residents of the Community Living Center (long term care, hospice/palliative care, and memory unit).


The Dayton VAMC Clinical Fellowship will provide experience in the evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, language disorders, cognitive communication impairment, motor speech disorders, and voice impairment. The Clinical Fellow can expect on-site training in videofluoroscopic swallow evaluations, flexible endoscopy, post-laryngectomy voice restoration, and assistive technology; as well as opportunities for in-person and virtual continued education. Hands-on training will allow the Clinical Fellow to develop the necessary skills to manage a full-time patient caseload. Overall – we are seeking a candidate with a strong interest in medical speech pathology.


APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Commitment to 12 months of temporary federal employment at Dayton VA Medical Center.

  • U.S. Citizenship and English language proficiency are required.

  • Graduation from a fully accredited Speech-Language Pathology program (MA or MS) required.

  • Eligibility for licensure in speech-language-pathology and application for conditional licensure.
