Speech Pathology Clinical Fellowship (August 2026 start) - San Diego VA Medical Center

SPEECH PATHOLOGY Clinical Fellowship Year position at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, San Diego, CA

 

ONE full-time, one year (12 month) Clinical Fellowship position available.

*Must be a US Citizen for this opportunity. 

*Previous medical placement required.

*Applicants with a strong academic/clinical background in dysphagia (including MBSS/FEES), language disorders, neurogenic cognitive/communication disorders, voice, and prior VA placement are preferred. 

 

The San Diego VA Speech Pathology Department provides services to a varied outpatient population and to inpatients throughout the medical center.  The Clinical Fellow will be expected to evaluate and treat patients within the Outpatient Clinic, Spinal Cord Injury unit, Comprehensive Inpatient Acute Rehab unit, Community Living Center, Palliative unit,  Psych unit, ICU and medical surgical floors.  Some of the populations served included neuro (CVA, ALS, MS, Parkinson’s), head and neck cancer, vent/trach, mTBI, TBI, voice and alaryngeal speakers.  Specialty procedures provided include FEES, MBSS, video stroboscopy and voice prosthesis management. 

 

The appointment is 12 months, 2080 hours.  Start date August 2026

 

Work week=40 hours.  Tour to be discussed at interview.  Speech Pathology services are offered at this site 7 days/week.  The stipend is $48,248 + benefits
